The Vase (2022)ΒΆ
The Vase is about a woman who laments over her shattered vase. A collaborative project between the TIMARA and Voice Departments at Oberlin gave me the opportunity to work with soprano Emma Murphy. The purpose of the project was to compose a piece for voice and electronics.
Seeing the humorous potential of the instrumentation, I decided to set one of my melodramatic poems to music. In the piece, I drive a damsel in distress through the seven stages of grief within the span of three and a half minutes.
